RSS
Before reading this chapter I really had the slightest clue what RSS was. I only need it was related to "feeds" or something of that sort. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. This particular technology tool allows for readers to subscribe to the content that is created on a specific weblog so they no longer have to visit that site itself to get it. It comes to you instead of you going to it! That just amazes me that there is a tool like that out there. Think of the possibilities. Now it is still kind of confusing but as I read on it made more sense. An aggregator: checks the feeds you subscribe to (quickly and frequently by the way) and it collects all the new content from those sites. It's the software that allows RSS to exist for us. So instead of taking all the time to look for new feeds and find what you want the RSS allows for you in a sense to check one site instead of thirty. That is such a time saver and something I would definitely invest my time in learning. Certain keywords I will use when I start my RSS would be something like "Classroom Activities" or "Kids Learning." I'm excited to set this up and see what it provides me with. To set up my RSS I learned (from this chapter) that it will be a very easy and simple process for me. Because I already have a google account for Blogger I already have a "Reader" account waiting for me to play with. One tip I will also remember is to be very organized and create many folders for my various topics. I hope we talk more about this in class because I would be very interested in learning more!
